Curiosity || Janie & Isaiah
its-isaiah-johnson:
Isaiah ran his hands through his hair as he stared down at two different shirts. He wasn’t quite sure why choosing one had become such a dilemma but something about Janie made him…nervous. He wanted to look good for her. He groaned as soon as Kathryn - his fiance flickered through his thought. He didn’t love her, and she didn’t love him, but they were still getting married. He had to respect what that meant, even if she wouldn’t. He picked one of the shirts up and began unbuttoning it deciding that it didn’t matter what he wore - Janie was and would always be just a friend. A very beautiful…friend. That’s when his memory came flooding back.
Kathryn had made her way into his room and told him she was pregnant with someone else’s baby. He can still hear himself laughing at the fact that she had to add the “someone else’s” part. They hadn’t even slept together yet. It wasn’t that he didn’t find her attractive - she was… but both of them seemed completely uninterested with the idea. It must have had something to do with the fact that they were being forced to spend the rest of their lives together. Sighing, Isaiah took the shirt off and put on the other one, knowing it was the better choice.
A smile played at his lips as soon as he was outside. The air was refreshing and knowing that Janie was waiting for him, ready to listen was… it was a lovely thought. Once he reached the park he looked around until his eyes met hers from across the lawn. He smiled and lifted his hand to wave as he approached her. “Janie, you look… brilliant.” He continued to hold her stare. “Thanks for meeting up.” He offered his arm and then proceeded to walk forward, enjoying the sound of the wind rustling through the grass and the trees, and the laughter coming from people who were standing nearby. “It’s really a beautiful day.” He stated, taking a quick glance her way.
Janie was starting to get over the anxiety that she was feeling during the waiting. It wasn’t like she was getting calmer, she was just getting used to the idea of Isaiah not coming. It was definitely a silly idea, after all, it was still soon. But in the young lady’s mind, maybe it was better this way. Maybe their meeting would just bring headaches for both parts or she would ending up acting overly awkward around him or… “Janie, you look… brilliant.” She heard, giving a small and gracious jump with the scare before seeing it was Isaiah. “Oh, Isaiah! T-Thank you!” The brunette said, getting visibly blushed with the compliment while trying to disguise it with a big smile on her face. “You are… brilliant as well!” She stated a little bit awkwardly, observing the man in front of her until he offered his arm and the duo started to walk through the park.
“Oh, and it’s nothing really. I should thank you for inviting me for this walk.” Janie replied about Isaiah thanking her for meeting him up after some minutes. She had no idea why she took long to say something about it. But the young lady had sure that she still had butterflies on her stomach, what definitely was letting her a little bit dizzy about words or what to say to the man beside her. “Oh, Yes! It’s definitely a lovely day.” She added a little bit awkwardly once again, agreeing with Mr. Johnson’s comment while blushing once again when noticing his glance at her. Miss Cole kept looking down for some seconds, unsure what would be appropriate to say next.
“I’m glad that you are fine, Mr. Johnson… I mean, you seem to be fine.” The brunette commented, turning her eyes straight to Isaiah’s face. She couldn’t help about getting distracted with her thoughts. He was just so… handsome. Janie thought that she would never think something like that about a man. The Cole eldest had lost faith on men but Isaiah was different. He was kind, and gentle, and… The woman then shook her head discreetly, trying to take such thoughts of her head. Isaiah Johnson was engaged and he definitely didn’t deserved and unpure woman as Janie. Not in her mind at least. So that’s all that they would be. Friends. “So how are things with Kathryn? I mean, I don’t want to be nosy or anything.” She asked, feeling a little bit embarrassed about not asking about another subject. “We can always talk about other things if you want to…”
